Experience

Prior to joining Fort Dearborn Partners, Bernadette was the Managing Director for a publicly traded professional services consulting firm, where she led the office and business development efforts in Wisconsin. Bernadette’s mergers and acquisition and due diligence work was primarily at Illinois Tool Works (ITW) and Oshkosh Corporations, where she held roles as the financial lead in strategic growth initiatives, including both buy and sell side transactions, deal team negotiations, valuation, modeling, due diligence, integration planning and project management. Her M&A work has predominately been with privately held businesses. Her international business experience spans 15 countries, in APAC, EMEA and LATAM and includes corporate development work in strategic planning, formation of new legal\operating entities and joint ventures.  She has also performed turnaround\profit improvement work outside of the US.

Bernadette has been in leadership roles for over 20 years.  She was the Corporate Controller at Plexus Corp (PLXS) and Integrated Merchandising Systems, a closely held business which was divested to a strategic buyer at Omnicom Group (OMC).  She has held financial leadership roles as division Controller for ITW, where she acquired 3 new businesses, restructured, and segmented the company, which resulted in a Capex business case justification for building of a new plant.  She consulted on a profit improvement assignment working with the COO of a closely held group of 8 individual business units totaling $200 million, which led to a new financial reporting structure as well as significant workforce reduction and reallocation of shared resources. In addition, Bernadette served in leadership roles in multiple ERP system implementations and business process improvement initiatives, including 80/20 analysis.

Ms. Trucco began her career in audit at Arthur Andersen, LLP in the Enterprise group (small to mid\emerging businesses in manufacturing and distribution) in Chicago and was the Director of Internal Audit at ITW, where she consulted controllers on 80\20 insights, process improvement opportunities, due diligence and internal controls risk analysis in a highly decentralized environment with 800+ small\mid-sized business units.
